Taking Risks

And then the day came, when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to bloom --Anais Nin

When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence. --Ansel Adams

"You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection." - Buddha

Yet a lot like other mothers, loving myself comes after family and work. Here is where I share my journey in finding balance among the three-- my beautiful family and the home that constantly needs attention (chores galore!), life as an ob/gyn nurse, and my different attempts at finding me time. The drive may take a while, but as long as I keep my headlights on when it's dark, I will reach my destination.

About Me

My photo
Nadja
I am Nadja, a 30-something year old Filipina who is "lucky I live Hawaii." I am happily married to Chris, who spoils me so rotten I admittedly tend to take him for granted. I am mother to the most entertaining 5 year old girl, Audrey, who shows me everyday how to be a true artist. And I'm human to Winston, our lovable English Bulldog who could teach me a lot about relaxation, if only I were willing to listen. I have recently re-discovered a love for photography after my nth attempt at Julia Cameron's The Artist's Way and am now addicted to Flickr. I love art, books, and dance and hope that one day I can comfortably call myself an artist.

Some of my favorite quotes:

"You will do foolish things, but do them with enthusiasm." -- Colette

"You only live once but if you work it right, once is enough." --Joe Lewis

"Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it, you will land among the stars." --Les Brown
